STRENGTH
Spring steel is usually used because of its high yield strength, resistance to deformation, and ability to restore its original shape.
RESISTANT
Precision Steel also has a large stock of stainless steel spring strip steel. Stainless steel spring steel is famous for its waterproof, environmental resistance and pollution resistance. There are two major categories, stainless steel spring steel can be austenitic or martensite. Austenitic stainless steel spring steel strips such as 301 and 302 are tempered and rolled into light springs, while martensitic spring steels (such as 420 stainless steel strips) can be heat treated to obtain high hardness and toughness, and are usually used for quenching tools.
EXPERIENCE
At Precision Steel, our sales representatives are experts in spring steel products. Let us help you find the right spring steel for your application.
FLATNESS
It is impractical to formulate flatness tolerances of cold-rolled carbon spring steel to express the range of width and thickness, as well as the various characteristics produced in coils and cut lengths.
Our high-performance spring steel is used in applications that require components that can reliably absorb and reapply forces. A good example of this type of application is a spring diaphragm in a car or a retractor spring in a seat belt system, both of which have been tempered and re-rolled.
The elasticity of the spring steel plays an important role in the functionality of these dynamically highly loaded parts. It determines how much force the material is able to absorb without being permanently deformed. The yield strength represents the maximum force which the material can absorb and subsequently release while still returning to its original shape.
Yield strength is an important parameter which we are capable of calibrating to a precise degree thanks to our experience combining chemical composition, cold rolling and heat treatment. When it comes to spring steels, we are able to manufacture various high-performance materials with yield strengths (Rp0.2) of up to 2,800 MPa (406 ksi).
